Free Safety for the Baltimore Ravens / Founder of Eye of
the Hurricane Foundation
Ed Reed received numerous recognitions during his time playing football for the University of Miami. He joined the Baltimore Ravens in the 2002 NFL draft and has since been as active in serving the community as he is on the field.
The Eye of the Hurricane Foundation, Reed’s charitable arm, supports community outreach in both Baltimore and Reed’s hometown of St. Rose, La. In addition to hosting football camps at Destrehan High School, where he attended, Ed has adopted and developed a longstanding relationship with the Booker T. Washington Middle School in Baltimore. His incentive-based L.O.R.D.S. program (Leadership, Order, Respect, Discipline, Success) rewards students who reach certain goals based on homework completion, attendance, and behavior. Ed visits the school regularly and provides the youth with necessary tools to succeed: school supplies, bicycles, and Thanksgiving dinner baskets, just to name a few.
