March 10, 2010 ─ Jon M. Laria, a partner in the Real Estate Department of the law firm of Ballard Spahr LLP, has been elected Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Healthy Neighborhoods, Inc.

March 9, 2010 — MMG, a patient recruitment and retention group, has appointed Ann Kottcamp to vice president/senior strategist of MMG's central nervous system and mental health therapeutic areas. Kottcamp most recently served as president of Argonauta Communications, Inc. in Edgewater. Before that time, she served as CEO of Pharmaceutical Research Plus, and conducted preclinical research at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the National Institute of Mental Health. Additionally, she worked at Louisiana State University Medical Center in the department of pharmacology through a grant from the National Institute for Drug Addiction (NIDA). MMG is a Ketchum company and part of the Omnicom Group family.

March 9, 2010 — New Generation Biofuels Holdings, Inc. has appointed Douglas S. Perry to its board of directors. Perry currently serves as president and chief executive officer of Davenport Newberry Holdings LLC. Beforehand, he held senior leadership positions at Constellation Energy Group, including president of Constellation Power Development and vice president and general counsel for Constellation Holdings. He also served as senior vice president of Constellation Power, Inc. Prior to Constellation, Perry served as special counsel/attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission's Divisions of Corporation Finance and Enforcement. New Generation Biofuels is a renewable fuels provider based in Columbia.

March 9, 2010 — Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq., previously interim senior state director, has been appointed as AARP in Maryland's senior state director. Andrews is the Managing Attorney of AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly, Inc.(LCE). Before joining LCE, Andrews was a litigator with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey; a partner with Dickinson Wright; and Founding Chairman of Andrews & Bowe. Additionally, he is a member of the Gerson Lehrman Group Law Council; a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy Alumni Assoc.; a member of the American Arbitration Assoc.; a past vice chairman of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization for people 50 and over.

March 9, 2010 — Gayle Fink, Bowie State’s Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, has been appointed as President of the North East Association for Institutional Research (NEAIR). Fink previously served as assistant vice president at Bowie State. Prior to that, she served as a director in the Office of Institutional Research for the University System of Maryland. Bowie State University (BSU) places special emphasis on the science, technology, teacher education, business, and nursing disciplines within the context of a liberal arts education.
