February 8, 2010 — The Tech Council of Maryland will team with AT&T to produce a program called Unleashing The Power of Your Smartphone to be held on February 25, 2010 at the Johns Hopkins University/Montgomery County Campus. The breakfast workshop is designed to teach business executives throughout the Mid-Atlantic area how to maximize their Smartphone for both business and everyday use.
The purpose of this hands-on workshop is to reacquaint technology professionals of all ability levels, who are customers of any wireless carrier, with the true power of their smartphones. According to Flurry, a research firm that studies mobile telecommunications trends, the average smartphone owner will use 5-10 applications (apps) regularly. This includes owners of BlackBerry, iPhone, and other devices such as Verizon's Android, Google's Nexxus and Palm's Treo.
"Like any other piece of technology, smartphone owners only utilize a small percentage of the device's capability," said Rick Harris, Executive Director of the MdTech Division of TCM. "This workshop will change that. We'll have a panel of expert smartphone instructors and demonstrators who will work with attendees in small groups to show them how to quickly unleash the true power of their smartphones. We'll also provide time for attendees to share their best tips, shortcuts and experiences so that other owners may learn from them," he said.
According to a recent research group Gartner Report, the mobile app business will soon hit over $6 billion in annual sales and smartphone owners tend to gravitate toward a small number of apps that they like. Learn the "must-have" apps and get a cheat sheet on how to make your device even more productive at the Unleashing The Power of Your Smartphone.
"Twice as many smartphone users have chosen AT&T than any other carrier, and we are committed to empowering the customer to get the most from the device, operating system and mobile applications that they have chosen," said Larry Taylor, director of sales for AT&T Maryland. "Mobile applications help consumers not only realize the full value and benefit of mobile broadband networks, services and devices but tap into their specific needs and better connect them to their daily life. The popular GPS mobile app, AT&T Navigator, is one example of a practical mobile application that can benefit consumers every day."
The first Unleashing The Power of Your Smartphone workshop is scheduled for Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Johns Hopkins University/Montgomery County Campus in Rockville, MD. Click here to register.
